I'm Messing around with plans for my 311gallon Plywood tank. I was wanting to know instead of painting the tank can I Use a pond liner and seal it to the wood before i put the glass in, with silicon and 1/4"aluminum strips and then seal the glass to the aluminum. I would put the liner in with silicon, then put the metal strip on top of that with more silicon and then a TON of screws, Then silicon the glass to the metal strip? Also i seen a guys tank and instead of painting the tank, he used the thinest plexi glass he could and kinda made a Tank inside a tank... understand? the plexi was the waterproof and the wood was the strength?

sounds like a good idea. I've thought of the thin plexi-glass layer also, and I'd probably try it if I were to build a large tank.

Yea i might build like a 20gallon here in the next few weeks. I want my 311 done within the next year so that gives me Silver dollars and clown loaches time to grow in my 55 so that the arowana and ornate wont eat them

well hell a sheet of plexi to biuld a 20gallon 1/4" is 72 bucks, it will be cheaper to do pond liner or just Epoxy for a 300+
