I purchased my Gold Spilo back in Feb 08'. When I recieved him I noticed that he had a little white spot, very faint on his chin. Well it has gradually went from the white to more of a bump with some redish color. Any info on ridding this or what it is? Thanks!

that little white dot on his chin is known in the piranha world as a chimple.. it is a scar or in your case a pinkish red open sore that forms on the chin from the fish rubbing his face on the glass... you never mention what size tank he is in or his temperment.. usually more aggressive piranha get them from beeing kept in captivity.. you can try either increasing his tank size to give him more room... or you can try putting some plants along the sides of the tank to keep him from bashing his head.. my brandtii has a scar there but i dont get close enuff to his tank to think im in his territory.. then again he chases car shadows on the wall from the open window... goodluck man you have a beautiful fish there..

Thanks. I've heard of chimple before but didn't know what it was. I understand why he has it now. Gold P. has been off an on, right when I got him he would finger chase and tear food up. Latley he has been lax but still gets pissed off and will swim vigouruosly back and forth snapping his chompers. I just switched him from a 40g breeder to a 29g which is only 6" less on the depth and length. My 7 inch Manuelli a.k.a Mani has been moved to the 40g breeder.

I just did this because I have just ordered 12 baby caribe to go into the 75g I have. Caribe will be here Tuesday!!! :D Will post pics and keep people updated in interested.

of course we will be interested.. there are a couple of avid piranha keepers here that love to know wahts out there.. well then it looks like you found the source of your problems.. goodluck
