Hi, I have a setup with my baby south americans in it, i have an escondido carpintis, a red belly pacu, a bay snook, a jack dempsey, and a peacock bass. They're all 1 to 2 inches long. I got a new heater for them and i need help choosing a temp. I am mainly focussed on my carpintis's need. I want to go warmer to boost their metabolisms. I have it at 76 degrees farenheit but i want to go 80. Is 80 good?

I don't think 80F is going to be too high for any of them, especially as juveniles. I keep a lot of my SAs in the low to mid 80s.

yeah 80 will be fine i keep my tank at 80, and Carpintis are actually CA, as are dempseys

cool, i alraedy turned it up and its stable at 80. since i got tye heater, they seem alot more active, before it was like 68 because this is the coldest winter ive delt w/. normally they stay at likethe low 70s.

oh ok yeah they will definitely appreciate the warmer temps and will grow faster as well, just be sure to have enough aeration since warmer water doesnt hold as much O2

i just filled the tank so the filter isnt churning the surface as it normally does, do i need to wory? These fish are in a 10g tank? There's five, 2" fish in there

if its not creating any turbulence at all then i would lower the water level a tad so that it creates more disturbance as it falls into the water (doesnt have to be big drop or anything just so that it creates more of a current at the top to ensure proper aeration, and yeah you need a larger tank like asap that tank is still too small even for a grow out for that many fish that are already that size and growing fast

and just in case you didnt know, both pacu and peacock bass (depending on type you have) will grow into the two foot range just so you know what to expect when thinking about future housing requirements for these guys, petstores sell pacu all the time and try to say that they stay small but really they eventually need to be kept in a pond in order to be comfortable, think about a 2ft round dinner plate, several inches thick and thats the adult size of these guys
