my hemerosa female is losing weight fast she is eating as normal and water is fine there are two motoros in with her and thay are ok. its been over about two weeks she lost weight theres no new fish gone in the tank and ive checked her over and there is no marks or tics ect on her think its internal prob. was gona try bit salt to see if would help. this is my first real ray problem am not liking it:(

How long have you had it and have you introduced any other fish recently? Sounds like it could be a parasite but I wouldn't jump the gun to soon on that. It could be increased activity or higher water temps. How often and how much do you feed.

Definitely sounds like a parasitic infection, if the ray is eating sufficiently and still losing weight. I'd dose the tank with some PraziPro. If that doesn't solve the problem, wow I don't know, she could have some other issue like just bad guts.

How's her doo-doo look? Stringy clear or slimy or is it formed and dark?

Right now a friend has my Ross, so I can't look up anything of a specific nature. I'll see what I can find out though. Hopefully, you'll get some great advice from some of the other Ray keepers.

i would treat w prazi.

some of my rays got parasites b4 that came in w my blackworms. sometimes a parasite can be living inside a ray for a long time b4 u actually start seeing the effects.

I would do half dose of prazi and keep up with the water changes. The fact that she is eating is good sign. Also what are you feeding? That may help also

why half dose? prazi has been safely used in upto 8x the tank volume dose...
