I have a 135g tank with two p.bass and two jags....this tank is plenty for them but i love my fish to have the best....i want to know what the point of a sump tank is and would it help ....and if so i wanna know how to make one step by step....i know there has to be a thread on this thank you if you can direct me

I'm getting a 150 next month, I will have a wet/dry sump filter made from a 35g tank. I think one big plus of this setup is removing most everything from the tank, who wants to look at a bunch of heaters and hoses. I think you can theoretically have much more biological filtration with a wet/dry than with a canister. Someone more experienced will chime in.

mine is just like this one, I measure how big I wanted the glass and had it professionally cut, cost $30.

There are lots of different kinds of sumps
I use a 50 gal barrel as a sump to hold the pump, heaters, filter sock, etc,
Normally the one below is about 3/4 full of water, this is during a water change.
I also use it to add water volume and thus help water quality stability.

I also use another tank as an inbeteen the sump, sump, where plants are grown, to help use up nitrates and provide more biological activity. My cichlids would normally just tear plants to shreds.

It's a 40 gal breeder, and adds even more volume and stability. It can also hold fry

sumps are good bc they form a larger area for biological bacteria to grown then the filters sold on the market.. the bigger the sump and more media in it the better.. it will keep your water cleaner.. go for it.. i am soon going to be running a wet dry and a fx5
