ok, soooooo its a fairly new tanganyikan tank.

75 gal
1 5 in frontosa
2 1 in frontosa ( one red one regular )
1 1 in flame trophous
1 1 in bracharti (Bra-shart-ee)
2 1 in calvus
1 i in dabosi
3 synadonis cats ranging from 3- inches all 3 are diffrent and im not sure what exact species they are

the problem issssssssss my red frontosa is dead :( and i dont want another issue, sooo who do you think the wrong doer in the tank is?

the front had no injuries except his tail fin was nipped down to the scales. my cats is the first thing that jumps into my head, but ive never seen or heard of them being an issue.

what do you guys think?

I don't have the knowledge to help you, but you have to be patient. Not everyone is on once every hour. Many people are working (here in the US) or asleep in other parts of the world. The responses will come. I promise. :)

i was just hoping someone may have had a simmular issue, i didnt give any rear clues beacuse i have no real clues.

i noticed the front was damaged last night, woke up and hes dead. i just dont want this to happen to another member of the tank.

im not expecting anyone to tell me 100% this is what happend, but im clueless beacuse everyone was happy for about a month and now this :(

If I had to take a stab in the dark, I'd say that your big front killed your little front. I'm no African expert, but in my experience, big fish eat/kill small fish. It's the way of the world.

No way to tell who did unless you seem them do it.

A front could have done it, a syno cat could have done it, the brachardi could have done it, anyone could have done it. If it was being picked on it may have gotten to stressted out and died. You can watch who chases who around the tank, etc. but until you see one commit the action then there is no way to tell as anyone of them could have been the culprit. Each of those fish could be just as likely as the next to do it. I ve seen syno cats, fronts and brachardi all pick on other fish. I ve only kep trophs in species only tanks so I never really had issues with them. Calvus are usually more docile. It really just depends..

Fronts and tropheus do better in species only colony tanks or with certian tank mates.... just to throw that out there as well.

You could do the fronts with a syno cat and calvus and keep the tropheus in species only tanks.....

Also if that is the permanent tank i dont suggest anymore then 2 frontosa as that tank is a bit on the small side for them..
