Why does Kissing Gourami have body discoloration.

What kind of disease is this? Can it be cured or healed? What treatment or medicine is suggested for it? Is quarantine needed?

This reddish color discoloration or body rash is new. Only the largest gourami is affected, None of the other gouramis have any discoloration. The other gouramis and clown loaches and SAE in the tank are all normal.

It appears to be a bacterial infection - I would move the fish to qt and treat with Neoplex or kanaplex.

As a side note, I’d recommend increasing water change amount/frequency to keep nitrates below 20 ppm.

Thank you for your advice.

I moved the gourami into a 10gal QT, and started Kanaplex treatment. Seachem says Kanaplex treats bacterial hemorrhagic septicemia, which is characterized by red blotches. Perhaps that's what this gourami has? I hope it works.

I did another 50% WC today in the main tank, as you suggested, so its nitrates are now 20 ppm. I'll do another WC tomorrow.

Success! It's working! 3 doses of Kanaplex later, and the gourami's angry red blotches are almost gone. Yay!
It's still in QT. I am so relieved. Thanks for your excellent help.
