I just noticed small white spots on my Royals fins, so far don't seen anything on his body, just the tail and dorsal fin. They seem to be really small. All the other fish seem fine, even the royal seems to be acting normal. They are so small it's hard to tell if they are "cottoney" looking? Does this sound like fin fungus? If so how should I treat it? It's in the comunity tank and I have a baby Dat in there thats doing great, and a couple pleco fry as well.

I think the spots are slightly raised, sounds like a fungus?. I have a Dry 10Gal and I could set that up and pull one of the filter in use on an established tank and posibly make a quarinten tank, but it would not be cycled, but the filter would have good bacteria on it. I don't want to start loosing fish! Should I remove the Pleco and treat him or is it too late and all fish in that tank need to be treated even without showing symptoms??

another option would be to remove all my fav fish that do not show symptoms to uninfected tanks? Or would that be a bad idea as well???

In this infected tank I have these fish: (None show symptoms other than the Pleco)

Bichir
Loaches
Dat
Leaf Fish
Two Juvy Albino Bristelnose Plecos
and a few basic common fish. I don't want my Dat, Bichir, Loaches or Leaf Fish to get sick.

How manyu gallons is the tank?

Just because fish don't show symptoms does not mean they are not infected...

So I would not move the non symptoms to other tanks with healthy fish.. I would'nt anyway..

I have used Melafix and Pimafix in combonation.. But is not recomended for LARGE tank.. As this would definately destroy a budget :D

If you are going to set up the 10 g and are scared.. you can also go by Seachems "Stability"

Adding the filter of a larger tank will pretty much make your ten g. cycled. Though you will want to add your fish at same time to keep it going, I would also pull a piecve of decor from the established tank. :) But as a precaution I would get some stability and some Prime as well.. Read them and then go from there...

Other opinions and aswers will flow shortly don't worry :)

Small white spots? Sounds like ich. If not fungus then i would suggest adding Salt and raising the temp to a min of 84-88

the tank is only a 30 Gal comunity. Most of the fish are juveniles though, not sure if that make s difference. the spots look raised to me though and they are only on the dorsal and tail, not the body. I added extra salt, so should be about 1/3 more than normal and the temp is at 79

Could you take some pics? Have the symptoms changed or spread?

how many fish have it if its only a few take them and put them into seperate quarantine containers then use fungus medicine if its all but a few treat the whole tank (this is only if your sure its fungus and not ich if ich do the same thing except with ich medicine instead of fungus)

Here are the best picts I could get, so far the Pleco is the only one that has it. And it's spreading on him. Do you think this is ICK or a Fungus? I just added some plants prior to him getting infected, not sure if that could cause it or not??

The flash really brought out more spots! Looks like they are on his body now, just hard to see without the flash. If you click on the image it'll get 3x's larger FYI
