Something is wrong with my jar. His scales look like they are about to fall off on his sides by his head. I have already put him in a hospital tank and treated with melafix and pimafix and salt. His tankmates were a 6 inch bichir and a 5 inch indo dat. He is about 12-13 inches long.

Looks like scale rot to me. Like most arowana problems:

1. Immediate 50% water change.
2. Increase temperature to 84-86F
3. Add Aquarium salt @ 1tblspoon/5 gallons

And in this case:

4. Add Melafix/Pimafix combination as per dosage.

Water changes should be done every other day or every third day until the symptoms subside.

Definite scale rot. Do all the listed things above and your aro should be fine. Remember to drop an airstone in as warmer water contains less dissolved oxygen.

i have a question what cause scale rot?

that looks very bad to me scale rot, scale rot in my opinion it's caused by bad water condition but also can be caused by infection I think but that all relates to bad water quality.
Since I got 700 liters aquarium with over filtration non of my fish's were ill,in fact they never been even if they fight and hurt them selfs, a guide to healthy fish's is a good diet and good water but also fish must have space to swim and feel safe in aquarium.
