I recently add some bogwood to my 55G mudskipper setup. I noticed a thin layer of white puffy mold (I think) growing on the portion portruding from the water. I boiled, soak and flipped this piece off and on for about three days before adding it to the tank. It does not seem to bother the mudskippers.

Does anyone know if this is deadly to them or not?
Has anyone else experienced this?
What should I do? Thanks for looking!

I had them all over a couple pieces of drift wood in my tank. Aside from looking bad I had no problems with any of my fish. In fact a pair of angels ate it all the time and the were fine. Remove it from the wood if you want but I wouldn't worry about your fish.

nah, I wouldn't worry at all. It could be anything, but most likely some wood-decay/saprophytic fungus that was on/inside the wood. Once the moisture was there, it germinated and had a growth spurt. The vast majority are harmless, and if they do cause any damage, it would be an opportunistic infection due to the host having a weak immune system.
