My lesser siren got into an accident with another tank mate during a worm-feeding frenzy, and my poor little siren's leg got mangled! It's still mostly there, but some fingers are missing, it's a little scraped up, swollen, and being hed on a funny angle.

Will it get better? I'm hearing yes and no in siren regeneration for limbs. T-T

Grow back is one thing, but can it heal what is there? It's still 85% there, but if it's pulle dout of the socket or something, will it "set" properly? that's whats really bugging me.

Thanks for your response, glad to see someone on this website pays attention. >>

It will never be exactly the same, but I believe it will heal and be functional again. If it's really mangled and starts looking infected, you should consider amputation. If a good herp vet is out of your budget, try asking a herpetologist at a local university or fish and game office. They've likely performed toe clips (it's a standard field marking technique for amphibians) and may be willing to perform the leg amputation, which is essentially the same operation on a slightly larger scale.

Wow... well it's looking a bit better, I think it wasn't as bad as I thought... but I hope it doesn't look too off later on...

Hearing that it should be in good working order again sounds great though, thanks so much. ^^
