Hi everyone,

One of my female zebra long pelvics is currently holding eggs. This is the first time they have spawned, and is as new to me as it is to them.

She has had a mouthful for about a week now. Problem is she is starting to get a little beaten up by the dominant male and cant do much to defend herself but hide away.

Should I move her now to my little 18x11x12 quarrentine tank? It has been fully cycled recently as it was holding some tetras that got a little picked on. I assume I would be fine to just empty it and fill with water from my african tank?

Thanks in advance, like i said, breeding is still new to me

I like to put the brooding female in her own tank & after she spits the fry out, I put her in another tank by herself, fatten her back up, then put her back with the male.

Cheers, I assumed that would be best. Hopefully she will be happy in the little tank, unfortunately its the only spare I have atm. Will she be ok in there after she spits, or is there a chance she will eat the fry?

well my girl is now safely moved to the small tank now. hopefully the move didnt stress her too much, she was a bugger to catch though. Luckily she didnt spit at all. i used water from the main tank to fill the little one with, and will do small changes every day to keep it nice and fresh.
