Doing weekly water changes on my 750 gallon tank is getting old really fast, so I'm looking to start a drip system. I plan on installing a ~50 gpd RO unit as the input for this system. My tank is in the basement with no water source near it, so I have been running a 100 ft hose from an upstairs sink to fill it up. There is however a utility sink directly above the tank on the first floor. I am planning on installing the RO unit near the sink and tapping the pipe there as an input for the RO unit. It should be easy enough to put a small hole in the floor to get to the tank. I'm stuck on how to get water out of the tank at 2 gph, and where it would be able to go since there isn't a sink or drain nearby. I have no experience with RO units or drip systems so any info is greatly appreciated.

I have seen someone on here that had their sump setup with a float similar to one found on a toilet that when triggered would drain the sump via another pump forcing the water out of the house similar to a home sump pump setup.

So in this setup, draining the water wouldn't be a constant thing, right? Do you have any idea what kind of range this would have between it's cutoff (I don't want it turning on an off constantly)?

Have no idea. If I can find the thread with it in there I will post a link to it here for you. It should work depending on the height it has to push the water. You would have to figure out how many extra gallons your sump can hold to figure out how many times a day it would run. Also would have to think about a safety to shut off the drip if there is a malfunction with the drain setup.

A link would be great. I am using a 150 g stock tank for my sump, and I keep it about 80% full usually so there is plenty of extra space. I built a retention wall within the stand as a backup in case of a flood lol.

Use a pump with a float switch to pump out the water. Put a float valve on the RO system that will shut off the incoming water an inch or so above the level that starts the pump because the pump or float switch will eventually fail. Should be a pretty simple project.
