Hi all,

I am currently planning a build of an 8x4x3' plywood tank.
I have the tank details & plans sorted, but I am now stuck on the stand part.

The floor to my fish room is uneven and slops, currently my tank stands & racks are shimmed so they all sit level.
But this tank I think is too big to shim with bits of plywood :)

What would be the best suggestions for creating a stand for this tank?
I am also thinking of maybe housing the sump underneath this tank (inside the stand)

I have seen a few made from wood and also a few from breeze blocks (cinder blocks)
All the other DIY builds for large tanks seem to revolve around the actual tank build which I have sorted :)

Any advice and help would be great.

Cheers

here is the stand i put together in google sketch up. this stand is L96"xW40"xH30" if you want any other pics from another angle let me know... that is a 100g (L61"xW22xH18) sump and two Fx5's under the stand... the stand is constructed out of 2x4's

You could use the sketch above, but i suggest 2x6s instead for a tank that large.
As far as your uneven floor goes, lay down a piece of insulation board between the floor and stand.

Either the insulation board or do self leveling concrete. It is more permanent but would strengthen the floor and should not shift

2x6's would be better but just for the sketch i used 2x4's for ease of modeling... i'd use 2x6's and 4x4's for the corner supports and extra bracing
