Ok so I my 30 gal tank is having problems with ammonia.. It's been at .50 for a few days now. The filters are one whisper 45., one whisper 20, and one marineland bio wheel that's rated for 50.. I just put thearineland one on so it's not cycled yet.. In the tank is one amp. Sagittae 4.5" and an ebjd 6" and one ebjd at 1"... I can't do anything about moving them for about 3 weeks when my basement is renovated then I can set up my 135 again... I've been changing 10 gals daily just tap water I don't have any ro/di system... The big ebjd hasn't eaten in 2 days, and srcatches herself on seldom occasions, but the lack of eating worries me even tho she's stopped eating for a week or so before... Any advice on doing something i could do differently? Amy advice would be great thanks

ammo at .5 is not too bad.
i would up your water changes to 20 gal per day and add some stability every day for a week. the BB should catch up soon.

Kk yeah I'll get some stability tonight and start that.... Changing 20 gal out of a 30 gal tank is safe tho?? My big ebjd has been in this 30 gal for months no problems with ammonia till the sagittae and baby ebjd got put in there... It's shame they shouldn't be cramped in there like that, I got the Sagittae from rapps he's an f1 xanthic and awesome... Unfortunalty the day after I picked him up my grandmother informed me i had 2 days to get my big tank of my basement... And since then I have that 30 also a 40 with my 6 juvie indo dats and another 30 with my geo altifrons, endli, and 5 clown loaches(that 30 has my 2 2217's on It cuz I refuse to lose my 2 year old loaches)... So far I've only lost my 13" ornate that I got at 2".... Sucks I can't wait to get my tank back up again

if u feel uncomfortable with 20 gals just do 50%. u can add some prime when u change the water to detoxify the ammo. works good.

Prime or Amquel Plus will bind the amonia rendering it safer in the meantime. Though will be asorbed by the carbon in your filter in 24 hrs. Also something like white diamond white carbon filter media can absorb amonia as well.

Any trace of ammonia is asking for trouble. Bump up the w/cs to 50% and cut down on the feedings...............

change 20 gallons a day

Thanks guys... How bout temperature should I keep it lower because the ammonia is less toxic? The temp is usually at 79
