SAXATILLUS GROUP ~ there are several types. AKA known as 'gold-flake' Pike, usually with lotsa spangling. Get to 8-10" size, think some people have had spawns/fry. We had a Cr. pacaya male for a while, ~ was a gorgeous show fish. Really nice medium-sized Pike.

Gorgeous!! Very intense spangling....as for the species...haha. Its definately saxatilis, which species is hard to nail down though, they look so similar and there aren't enough photos on the web. Really need to get an aqualog...a new updated one would be even better! lol

Normally they are sexable around 5 to 6"....with the females gettin a spot in the dorsal, as well as some white edging on her dorsal...typically get a reddish belly as well.

I only feed once a day. It didn't seem to interested in the pellets or flakes. I keep a red wiggler farm going all year round son I thought I'd try them and it gobbled 4 wigglers down like crazy. I guess they prefer live food.

Get them on pellets or prepared as soon as possible. Tis the best diet you can give them, that or gut loading the worms manually.

Yeah, you'd think they would have a NEW aqualog by now.....*grumbles*

I will. I'm sure it won't starve its self especialy when the other fish are eating kinda like monkey see monkey do. I just wanted to make sure it ate well at first to help with the stress of being in a new enviroment.

Your on the right track!!! Crenicichla are probably one of the easiest cichlids you will ever keep. Easy to feed, not very demanding...great personalities and tons of color. Get relatively large too depending on the species. Pretty soon you'll want more and more...the addiction is hard to shake!
