So I bought this API XP: XL canister filter from my lfs about a month ago now and I changed it 2 weeks ago and it was sooooooo messy. Like it had a lot of gunk in it from the tank. Now I am new with canister filters but I am comparing it to a marienland c 160 or whatever the 100 gallon one is and that didnt get so messy so fast! is there something im missing? Also the flow rate doesnt seem to be as strong as my marienland one....like the marineland one kicks butt on the flow rate of the water coming back out. Is it defective? did i set it up wrong?
