hi my atf lost almost half of it's scale from jumping and hitting the drift woods i have in my tank and it badly injured. it's still active and swimming. i added aquarium salt to the tank what else should i do? thank in advance

i would say the Goliaths are a tough fish, and can definitely recover from injury fairly well, however i would move the driftwood in such a way that it doesnt trap him and so that there are no sharp points exposed so if he does hit it is less likely to injure him. Try and free up a large area for him to hang out in, and hope that he gets less skittish, and learns quickly the lay out of the tank. A larger tank may also be necessary, and a huge tank in the future will be a guaranteed necessity

I have my VATF in my 150 and as soon as I put him in the tank I pulled all the driftwood because I didn't want him getting banged up on it. He's now super happy and very comfortable in my tank with no drift wood, just black sand substrate and some plants. He actually will come to the top and basically take Hakiri pellets from my hand.

the fish is in a 180g and i did take out the giant drift wood temp is at 82 it's doing well now less skittish but it's swim on top alot more.
thank all for the advice

Upgrade the tank, can never go wring with that. But replace driftwood with fake plants, can't hurt themselves on that.

Also I found that mine, for the most part, stopped going nuts and shooting around the tank when I put a strong powerhead in there

mine got calmer after i added a big pump for flow. now my 125gal has about 1600gph running through it. they love it, had to take my plants and drift wood out and put in some lava rocks to give them slack water to hang in. for the most part they just stay in the current and run it up and down the tank.
