A friend saw these wild caught Black Rays here in Brazil. They are being sold as BDs. My friend got the smallest one, a beautiful ray. Are they True BDs or regular Leos?

True BDs are rare in the hobby in here, coz almost all of them are exported to US, Europe and Asia. They are very expensive even in Brazil, and we don't have much information about them, they are kind a "pretty new" for us.:screwy:

Very low quality bd or decent leo one of them is a decent bd but the others just nice p13

Thank you guys!

But how can I tell the difference between a high quality Leo and a low quality BD? More photos could help?
There is no really price difference between a low or high quality regular Leo in here, but a BD, even a low quality one, is more expensive.

Regular Leos are around US$800 - 1000, at aquarium fish stores.

At collecting companies, São Felix Leos are around US$1300 - 4000, depending on quality and size…sometimes top Thousand Isle Sao Felix Leos reach US$7500 (exported to Asia)...we can't find Sao Felix black rays at any fish store in here...

Thanks

looks like nice sao felix bds are still worth lots. i am glad i kept my nice sao felix male :) he is now mature and developing alot nicer patterns and got alot bigger

as for price of leos..... its the same here leo or bdxleo all worth the same here actually the bd name "thing" has become a joke here
