i got my first piece with asorted polys and some mushroom. but its not comming out from hiding? ( bought this week ago )

today i got some kind of yellow leather coral.

the man at the petstore said these would be fine in my tank ( this place is strct with stuff they wouldnt lie about it its not like petco )

so heres the story:
the polys and mushroom are hidden and have been since i put it in my tank. the leather coral was hidden for like 10 mins and is not beautiful. please help me get my other's out

* if i can find my camra cord i will post pics *

thank you in advance to all who can help me

some softies will take some time to come out.

Whats your lighting on the tank. For coral this info is as critical as the water conditions, so the more you post the better help you'll end up getting.

I would try some form of coral food, a bit of calcium and a bit of iodine. this will usually help them start to show some color and size.

I wouldn't start addind any iodine or calcium unless you test for those and know you are low. List your water parameters, lighting, lighting schd, and turnover rate. all of those will help us help you. Also what fish are in the tank?

ph-8.2
alk-2.0
nitrite-.1
nitrate-0
sp gravity- 1.024
ammonia-.5
temp-67.7

Nitrite and ammonia need to be at 0. alk is a bit low. Temp should be higher too, 70s to low 80s.

BIGgourami please help :)

Your tank shouldn't have any amonia or nitrite in the tank. The ammonia and nitrite could be why your corals won't open up all the way. I would do some extra water changes. Whats your maintainance schedule like? Do you use RO/DI water to make your sw? How long has your tank been setup? Do you have any powerheads for in tank circulation? Do you test for phosphate?

THIS LOOKS LIKE A JOB FOR..

BIGgourami!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well seeing as your tank's params aren't close to right yet i would say that your tank is still cycling.. as such the corals would still be withdrawn.. as they seem to be..

correct the imbalances and the corals should blossom
