hi.has any one ever used a bb filter on a fish tank? my new tank is going to be 8x4x3 so trying to get best filter i can.

There are many different bead filters out there. Could you please post a link or picture? The original bubble bead filter is one that uses floating media (not moving) for koi ponds. It is an up flow filter and to wash you stop the pump for the beads to drop which allows the debris to drain out. Only problem is if you go too long without washing the beads cement into a solid brick.

Hi it's an evolution aqua easy pod not a bb filter

The aqua pod needs to be either gravity fed from the tank or back to the tank.Idealy with a bottom drain for gravity feed and after your pump for gravity return. So it must either be mounted level with your waterline for gravity feed or above it for gravity return. Bead filters are much easier to install as they are a pressurised filter, and can be installed at any level.

Do you think the BB filter are better than the easy pod?mite be moving now and the new house has a cellar so I could be building a big tank for my rays and I would have room for a 3 stage filter with a vortex.

I think for large aquarium or small pond use I would rather use one of the bead filters. They take less space and can be hidden under neath the tank or in the next room, don't have to be level with the tank, can be run at different depts, can be run at more GPM,are easier to plumb, and easier to clean. The advantage of a easy pod is you can use a more economical pump (less electric),the media is exposed to air and will stay more active in a power outage and is cheaper to buy. A vortex works well pror to a bead filter. also a trickle tower after a bead filter is a good idea
