Okay so I just got back from Florida and wow I theyre poopy... lol. Okay I need to ask this is there anyway to change your filter pads without all the crap going back into the fish tank??? If so how, and I have 2 emp 400's, a fluval U4 underwater filter, and my ehiem classic 2217.

My ehiem I can do without anything because of the shut off valves, but the other filters I hate doing because all the crap stuck in them and on the screens in the tank all the poo and stuff comes off and goes back into the tank.

So can someone help me really fast because Im getting ready to start cleaning my tanks. THANK YOU! :)

Ive tried that and it didnt really seem to help much but thanks

Pretty easy solution here. Unplug the filter, remove the filter pads, rinse them real good in tank water that you've removed from the tank during wc (we just use a spare bucket), and then throw them back in there. Pretty common cleaning technique. When they start to literally fall apart, then it's typically time to replace them.

with a freshly cleaned filter, it's going to suck up any gunk that went into the tank pretty good, so i wouldn't worry about a little gunk floating in the tank for a few minutes at all.

I washed the filters out, I cannot believe how nasty the sand was and still looks I probably spent and hour easier siphoning the crap and it still looks dirty... :( ugh, I think my dad might of been giving them to much food too which prolly had something to do with it, his pinches must be gigantic lol..

What he ^ said.
