I found convict fry in their cave(a little cup from decor lol). I had no idea there were eggs...

Do I need to start feeding them? They can swim half an inch o.O

Ty

Edit:I have pebbles as my substrate...some of the fry seem to be falling through the holes without coming back up? D:

I just had a batch hatch about a week ago, and started feeding them as soon as their yolk sacks disappeared and they were free swimming. I've been giving them Hikari First Bites, but i've heard that baby brine shrimp are good for them too, but i don't have any experience with hatching/using them as food. is this your fist set of wigglers?

yeah they're my first batch of fry :D

i saw a yolk sac on a baby arow once, i don't see anything resembling it on my fry...but they're not free-swimming yet o.O

i still don't know when my convicts laid their eggs

convicts are like the rabbits of freshwater one day you dont have eggs next day theres a swarm of fry in your tank.

once they become free swimming and swarming(not just lying still and wiggling) you can feed them hikiri first bites, baby brine shrimp or a liquid concoction sold in little tubes designed for fry.

as for the fry falling in the substrate. its their natural defense mechanism to bury themselves in the substrate when they feel threatened. sometime they bury themselves to deep and can't get out. its one of the main reasons breeders use bare bottom tanks.

hope this helps GL with your fry:)
