Today at work a customer brought in one red clawed crab and one fiddler crab and I brought them home. Does anyone have any advice that would help like setup, food, temp, etc.? Any help would be appreciated

I keep fiddler crabs in my community tank. Temp stays around 79 to 80. They sift the bottom for left over food . Mostly the flake it seems. They can get out easy so make sure u dont have anything tall for them to climb up and all holes in the lids are small enough they cant get out.

I keep both Red claws and Fiddlers in my normal community tank, i have 2 plastic floating Lillie pad type things that they climb up too.

The fiddlers actually mated 2 times, so i'm guessing that means they are happy.

You need oceanic conditions to produce offspring though, so she just got pregnant.

It's sad that very few truly freshwater crab species, if any, are available to aquarists... There are columbian, brazilian, and central american species that are true FW that are actually the majority of the diet for many catfish and cichlid species... they would go a long way towards creating accurate biotope aquaria.
