Hi I'm new here to MFK, this is my first post. I have a few questions. I purchased a 135 gallon tank (72"x18x20") and stand for 150 dollars from my local fish store. Well, I guess that the price reflects the quality. It is pretty scratched up. It has a few cracks too. Its original owner used it for turtles. I am worried that it will leak or fail in some way. I am putting up a couple pics for reference. Is there any way to fix these cracks and scratches? I am posting in this section because technically I'm setting up my tank.
Thanks in advance.

PS i am not sure if i am attaching correctly so help me if im not.

You can repair the cracked top by either running acrylic glue into the crack or by gluing a piece over the crack. Either way, That isn't a major deal from the pics. The scratches wont hurt the integrity either, but you can buff them out with a kit sold online and in some home centers, even certain automotive parts stores. It will take a lot of elbow grease and sweat but the results are usually worth it.

with that crack your screwed, try to get a refund and consider it a lesson learned.
No. This is the wrong answer.

A crack in the top can be repaired easily as described in the first reply, or in a less attractive way by adding a small piece of acrylic so that it spans the crack. The scratches can be buffed out by using a few different grades of sandpaper (1000, 2000, 3000 grit).

Thanks guys for the quick reply. would i be able to use my sander with a different attachment, or would i need a brand new special machine just for acrylic?
