so I purchased 10 x 3-5cm festae a couple of weeks ago, the supplier mentioned that they WILL get white spot after travelling the 400km trip and to be prepared to treat them. so sure enough day 2 of having them home they came up with white spot. for weeks we have been trying to treat them now with salt + heater, melafix, mulitcure and ickaway (none of the treatments done at the same time but after the previous treatment was completed) though NOTHING seems to be working. its like this, if the heater is below 30 degrees Celsius it appears, if the tank temp is above 30 degrees Celsius they are fine, the spots do not bother them nor do they get over run with them, usually between 4-12 spots on each. if I turn the heater down - within 6hrs they are covered in spots, and if I turn it back up they disappear as fast as they came. someone please help? I have had white spot in my tanks before and they were gone with a simple treatment, this time the spots come and go with the temp and I really don't like the thought of having to keep their tank temp at 30+ degrees all year round especially considering the size of the tank.

Keep the heat up for 10 to 14 days to break the life cycle if the ich, it can only be killed during it's free swimming stage. You can also keep the water salted during this. Do daily 25% water changes and gravel vacuming also while treating with heat and salt to remove as much ich from the system as possibile.
