Hey wanted to know if someone on MFK could help me out or give me some advice about how to change ma EBJD's diet from frozen food to pellets. But still want to feed frozen food once in a while.
generally people dont feed them and when they get super hungry they eat the pellets. i did that with my jd who only ate krill and bloodworms. i would feed him frozen food sparingly to keep him alive but would let him go hungry for periods of time. then he started taking pellets. i heard ebjd's are slow growers and real sensitive so u may wanna be careful
aye, if its still a juvie, you really don't want to be changing too much on it or anything like that. It will get stressed out and stressed ebjd is really hard to deal with.
I find it's easy to get them over to flake then pellets but that is when they are a half inch. For me I have had the best luck not giving them any frozen food and just keep them on pellets. The NLS H2O flake is a great flake to start them on and they seem to like it a lot.
Slowly shorten his feeding schedule and introduce the pellets. Eventually he will get good and hungry. I would suggest feeding him a floating as well as a sinking pellet. It will give you diversity down the road.
