I have had my Endli for about 3 weeks and it is around 4-5 inches. It has been eating fine and has suddenly stopped. It wont eat even when food is dropped infront of it. Also, I have noticed that it has been gulping air a lot lately. The tank is well filtered and cleaned weekly with a large powerhead to airate the water. I think it may be swallowing the air because it floats at the top sometimes and looks to have a small lump in its stomach area about a half an inch behind its head. I am not sure if something is wrong or if this is just something that needs to be waited out..

I kinda agree with isde02 cause maybe it has swallowed some sand or pebbles..
Another cause is it's stressed,did you add any new tankmates to it?
Check out on the plants or it's body cause bichirs releases slime when stressed.
Rapid breathing also contributes.Check it out at the sticky's too.It helps!

I removed most of the fish so now there are only 3 others.. I might get some dither fish to see if it helps. Still hasnt eaten and is starting to get skinny. Looks like it might have extra slime cause sand is kinda sticking to him.
