So I recently got a new addition for my tank....an African Brown Knifefish. At first I was a bit dissapointed because he never comes out until it's dark....but at any rate, I need advice in feeding him. I can't just put the food in the tank because my Oscar always grabs it before Reaper (my knifefish) even knows it's there...so my question to you fellow knifefish owners is if you have ANY advice AT ALL to aid me in keeping my little homie alive and swimmin'.

Feed it some frozen bloodworms at night after you turn off the lights. After awhile, it'll become more comfortable and will start to venture out during light hours and will start feeding during that time as well. Oscars can be a bit aggressive for a timid African Brown Knife. You might need to move it later one. ABK grows pretty slow and the Oscar may decide to make a meal of it one day.

Yes, but after the lights go out, the Knife should become more active while the Oscar should be getting ready for bed.

That definitely makes sense i appreciate the help. I just hate not knowing if he has eaten or not.....i reeeeally do not want to come home to a man down.

Quick question.....as of now I am feeding him and my bichir eel freeze dried shrimp. One....will that work as well as the bloodworms? And if so should i squeeze the air out to make them sink or let them float?

do what you can do make them sink, chances are the knife will find em better that way

Yea thats what i figured because my oscars being a lil pain in the ass and eating the shrimp before the knife gets to it....even after i just fed him, but then again i dont think fish have a sense of restraint so i guess i cant blame him lol.
