So my girlfriend's dad has been keeping a SB flowerhorn of some sort for about 2-3 years. (not a FH expert). When I would come over I would see it just resting on it's stomache and it would swim up whenever it ate. The filtration and water parameter's were rather poor i must say. I did whatever I could do to help it everytime I came over. (water changes, changing filter cartridge, bought a sponge filter.) And now recently for the past two days, it has been lying on its side. I figured it could've been a swim bladder disease but now I am doubting it. So I got his permission to take it home to do whatever I can do to help it. It has been lying on its side in my 80g for the time I brought it home. I did a 10% water change once I put it in and I added a little salt. When it pooped i noticed it was not as smooth as regular fish. It was kind of clearish and yellow and it looked very rough. I'm not sure if this came from the fish or from it's poop or even from my tank but these little critters like mites started to appear at the bottom of my tank near the poop. I've had them months before and i removed them though. As of now, It has trouble staying upright and is just lying down. Is there anything I can do to help it? Is it SBD? Is there hope for this FH? (Note: My girlfriend's dad suffered a stroke a about a year ago so his motor skills are rather weak so he is unable to do adequate water changes and put full care for the FH.)
