Hi. Tank is doing well now after 2 months. Other than keeping nitrates controlled, all is well and fish seem very healthy. I still don't know what three of my fish are.
I have made a Youtube video and was hoping someone might be able to help. The ones I don't know are the two that have a marbled appearance and the one that is dark brown with faint horizontal stripes. All the fish in the tank currently range between 2 and 4 inches.
One other question too. Has anyone had success keeping a Polypterus senegalus (Senegal bicher) in a tank with african cichlids? If it's true they are carnivorous, how do I keep from feeding them meat based products? I only feed the cichlids herbivore based food.

Thanks for the help.

You have a really nice tank! and the fish are a group of assorted african mbuna. It's been a long time since I kept them but from a glance I can tell that you have

several varieties of zebra
Melanchromis Auratus
Kenyi possibly
Labidichromis caeruleus

you have a good selection of Mbuna

Thanks. I am familiar with all the species except the 3 mentioned above. They may be kenyi's though, just not sure. I love the color mixes you can attain with these A.C's though.

The two fish with marbled appearance are hybrids (OB peacocks). Not sure which dark brown fish with horizontal stripes you are talking about.

Darn, that is what I was afraid of. Isn't the general consensus to get rid of these to minimize further watering down (no pun intended) of the gene pool? Especially since they are a hybrid of two different genera? Not that I want to do that because I care for all my fish.

Yes. He's done great in the tank. The cats (nigriventis and eupterus) are also tough and have no problems with the fish. I have a chinese algae eater too, wow, he is a bad dude and is outgrowing everyone else.
Do you know anything about the Senegal Bicher?
