I have an fx5 that is making a lot of noise!!!! It sounds like it is constantly filling with water or trying to fill with water. It purges itself as it should but after it does that it sounds like a waterfall inside the filter quite loud mind you. It does slow down after a couple of hours but then it purges again and it starts all over again. All i can say is that it sounds like it is filling with water all the time or like a waterfall. Water is crystal clear and all levels are perfect so it must be working ok but just making this loud water noise all the time. Has anyone else had this before?? If they have is there anything i can do???? I would appreciate anyones help with this or suggestions. And yes all the connections and fittings are underwater so there should be no air getting in.
Thanks for your help in advance..

What are you using for media in your filter. I think that is your problem. If you have to much which, alot of people do they will suck air. The blue pads you will find , will plug fast and stop your flow. I threw mine away and cut a square XP4 pad to fit . works way better. In others I only use the outer pads. I find when they get dirty they will start to blow bubbles and make noise. Hope this helps you.

Thanks for your help i have noodles in the bottom ammonia remover in the middle in a bag and in the top i have like scouring pad material its a 3m product we get here in oz i cut some to suit the basket and put it in maybe having media in three baskets is too much i might try taking out the pads and giving that a go

That might help. Let me know if it works for you.
It could be because you only have noddles before your ammonia remover in the middle in a bag that your bags are becoming plugged fast . I run the pad I cut from a XP4 in the bottom then my bags in the middle and ceramic rings on top. the water flow is from the bottom to the top I think, that is why I run a pad on the bottom
