Ok so I've had my Florida Gar for about 3-4 months now and within the past month I've noticed some weird growths. At first there was just the one right behind his gill and then another one started on one of his front fins. And to make matters worse just today I noticed the start of another growth on his side. The spots look fleshy, perhaps a tumor? I've been keeping my water/tank very clean and he has been eating regularly and acting normally. Anyone have any ideas of what this could possibly be? Thanks. :(

This is a good shot of both problem spots, one behind his gill and the other on his right lower fin.

keep us posted as to whether or not this continues to spread...doesn't look like typical lymphocystis or parasites so it's hard to say. i would raise the temp to 82F, bump up water changes to 50% 2x a week and see if things improve. i would also add 1 tbsp of salt per 20g of water in the tank as that will often help.

i would also skip feeding feeders and start your gar on a non-live diet as this is the main avenue for pathogens to get into your system--
