One of my female geophagus steindachneri has been doing this strange thing with her mouth lately. it looks like she is chewing (like when she scoops up some sand in her mouth) but she is doing it 24/7 nonstop with her mouth closed. the only time she stops and opens her mouth is feeding time. she is in a 75g, planted, species only, with 3 other females and 2 males. parameters are perfect via tube test kit, and temp is 81 deg F

Aren't they mouth brooders? Maybe she has eggs in her yapper?

Thanks for the input! posted the same thread over in cichlids and we determined the same thing.
