I live by farms and a swamp and I have had problems with my water. There is something in the water and it isn't nitrates but it kills my fish. For right now I have been using a pur 3 stage faucet filter for a few months with no problems but it's so slow and expensive. Is there a house filtration unit I could add that would work? I don't want to do ro. I don't have room and I have a lot of tanks. I have seen some filtration units that you can add different cores too but I don't know which one would work? Any help would be great.

We would have to know what it is that is in you water that is killing the fish. Have you had the water tested?

I never had the water tested but I did talk with a local place and they said it's more than likely arsenic if I remember correctly.

eh.. doughtful, do you drink this water? If so you would be dead too.Just cut through all the b.s. an get it tested an then we can help you out.

Ya we do drink it. But they fixed it a while back. It will be a few days but I will try to find out. I was told by a guy at gordons water but I don't know if that is a 100% true.

I just contacted Gordon water and spoke with a person and they said they never heard of the arsenic. So I think that other guy I spoke with didn't know what he was talking about. And to get my water test for everything it cost $35. So what every is in the water is taken out by my pur so is there a house filter that can do that but in large quantities?

what kinds of fish are you keeping? it could be the pH level. most south american fish wont do well in such hard water.

A Pur filter is basically just a carbon filter. You could just go buy a whole-house carbon filter and try it. They are not that expensive.
