First of all, I live in Europe (Madrid, Spain), and I noticed that here are a good number/population of Podarcis hispanica species. I did some researchings about this specimen and I've seen that there are different variations (I think it is about the location/zone). However, this is a specimen I found/catched in a box about a month ago. I kept it for about 2 hours and had left it. They grow to about 16 cm.

From plain sight, to me it looks like a male but I may be wrong.

--> These are natural trees/plants for them where I've seen some hiding. But as they are small, they'd make their house wherever they want, under rocks, inbetween plants, etc.

About a week ago I caught another lizard, probably a little bigger, and it was kind of different from this, it does not had so many spots on him. However, I've left it.

The reason I left both of them it is because I do not know where and how to house them. They seem to be VERY scared and would not eat anything if left in a small box. (I put there 2 crickets and did not eat none of them--the one I caught this week).

In some other instances I've seen small ones, they were a little different from the bigger ones, I'd say that they had their tail green/maroon while the bigger ones had their tail just as the majority of them (normal, specific colour.) But that is just because they were young, not because they were different species.

Some advices on how to house them? If it is not too late, I'll probably go and seek for another specimen (if possible, bigger). But I think they already are going into wild/natural hibernation as where I live it is getting cold/raining.

BTW, some of you might have seen some of these photos, I made another thread on identifying this specimen (with other username). The reason I have made another account it is because I got banned on the old one.

Thank you.

Hey man, first of all you should check if it's legal to catch them. I know from previous holidays in Iberia that they are quite abundant, but here in Germany one species of lizard is, too, and I would even get a huge fine if I took one from my own garden!
If it's legal, to the housing: It's natural they don't feel well in a see-through box with no decorations. Buy them a small terrarium, put in a good uv lamp, some gravel or sand, stones, twigs and maybe a few plants.
Also, crickets may just not be the right food for them. Try house flies instead :)
