Help with Ich PLEASE!

you can try raising the water temperature since ich cannot live in warmer water

Ich has 4 stages of its lifecycle. The white spots are just one and the only stage they are almost invulnerable. It usually attaches to fish's gills first so just because you don't see white spots doesn't mean they're not infected. They will stop attaching to fish at 85°F, stop reproducing at 86°F and will die off at 88.9°F. Most thermometers have a margin of error of 2°F so if you set your heater to 86° and the tank's actual temp is 84°F, you're just speeding up the life cycle of ich. That's why the recommended temp is 88°F for 2 weeks (14 days) with good circulation and aeration (add an air stone with heat treatment). You should also gravel vac every day to pick up the ich spores in the substrate.

You do NOT want to mix treatments. If you're using meds, lower the temp to normal (78-82°F?). Follow the directions exactly. Kordon Rid Ich Plus is good and should take care of the infestation as long as you follow the instructions. Most meds take 5-7 days.

I would have to agree with DarkOne DarkOne on the heat treatment. I had a bad outbreak like this also. I ended up having to use the heat treatment plus salt to get rid of it. The amount and what kind of salt is debatable, but it works. There is a sticky in this section of the forum describing their version.

Update: I lost a blue acara today and the ich is worse than it’s ever been. Honestly I’m probably going to lose the tank sadly since there’s no signs of improvement anywhere and they’ve stopped eating. I tried all methods starting with heat and salt, then meds, then after 2 weeks of that not working I tried heat and salt again to no avail. I guess it’s just a lesson for me to quarantine better. Im just glad I didn’t put them all in my main tank immediately. They all went to a grow out/quarantine until they were bigger but I got 5 total fish within a week from 2 different locations. The last 2 brought in the ich. It really sucks.

Did you actually add the proper amount of salt?
Unless its concentratrated enough, it is like doing nothing.
You need 1lb for a 29 gallon tank, any less, you might as well not treat at all.

I added 2-3 teaspoons per gallon

So in other words you added 80 tsp's to your tank?
If you didn't add 80, it wouldn't work.
I personally would zone out trying to count 80, that's why a use the proper weight.

No it’s a 29 gallon tank filled with about 25 gallons of water so that the filter water can drop further creating more surface agitation since the temperature is high. It already had a good bit of salt in it but once I read on it it wasn’t enough. It was probably a half teaspoon to a full teaspoon per gallon. So when I added more I added 50 teaspoons since I had 25 gallons of water in it and it was 2 teaspoons per gallon.

The 3 ppt salinity is the "minimum to kill ich".
50 tsps is still about 1/3rd to little, to actually do the job for 25 gallons, especially on a heavy case.
Ich is a tough parasite, with a tough outer cell membrane, and what you are trying to do with the salt, is create enough osmotic pressure to make their outer cell membrane implode. Even a few tsps too little and most will escape the implosion, 25 less is like giving them a scratch.
