To begin, it has been several years since I have had ich... I know its well over 7 years, its been so long I don't even remember when my last problem was.

A little about my tanks: I have a big pond outside with Mollies, Goldfish, koi, and other cichlids, I also have a 200 gallon setup in my living room, and I have setup a new 56 gallon Aquarium in my Son's room just 2 weeks ago.

The tank in my sons room is a 56 column tank... I did a whole new setup. New everything from fish to decor to filters. This 56 gallon tank has just had an out break and I noticed it 3 days ago...

What is in my 56 gallon tank:
2 pearl goldfish 1 inch long
1 red cap oranda 1 inch long
1 lion goldfish 1 inch long
2 rachu 1.5 inches long
4 blue ram cichlids
2 bristlenose plecos
and 2 gold snakes the size of a nickle.
No live plants, I have gravel, a castle, and 2 pieces of drift wood.

This is what I have done so far to my tank:

Step 1:
3 days ago I added 1 table spoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons. I used a real tablespoon, not a spoon from the table.

Step 2:
Starting yesterday morning I have raised the water temp from 77 degrees to 84.5 degrees as of this morning, so it took about 29 hours to raise the tank 7.5 degrees.

What do I do now?? I have bought the following meds, but have not used them... I wanted to ask you guys for your advice before using meds. I do not have a spare tank to setup and treat the fish apart from the tank. I know that ich can not live without a host for more than a few days.

Listed below are the 2 meds I have bought:

Mardel Coppersafe: for ick, velvet, and otehr external parasites, 4 fl oz

Kordon Ich Attack herbal formula, 16 fl oz

Thank you in advance for your help.

I always start with heat and salt first. BUT, that being said, I would use the coppersafe as well since you have that already and it works quicker and doesn't affect the bio.

all the instructions say is use 1 teaspoon (5ml) for 4 gallons of water, and treats water for 1 month... Do not overdose,

So what about water displacement? Its a 56 gallon tank, but do I need to take into account the volume of the decor, wood, ect??? at 5 ml per 4 gallons, my math says I need 70ml to treat a 56 gallon tank... It also says It might harm my snails... but I dont have anywhere else to put my snails so I dont kill them..

It might kill them, coppersafe seems to kill some but not all snails all the time. I don't know why. You could just dose for 50 gallons you don't have to be that accurate.

At that temp I'd wait about 2 more days. Then you should be ok to remove meds.
