I have been trying to get rid of ich with the salt and heat method. The tank has been at 88 degrees for the last week. i have also added 2 teaspoons of sea salt per gallon but the ich looks worse then ever.

Anyone have suggestions, i dont want to medicate if i dont have to.

medication would probly be best ...its only like $5-10, salt seems to repair damaged fins and stuffand help a little with coloration

I believe it should be 1 tablespoon per gallon of the aquarium salt. I don't know about the sea salt. It takes some time for the ich to run it's course. It will look worse before it gets better. As long as the fish isn't showing signs of stress I would continue with the salt and heat. I used it on my little severum and he was covered with the ick from nose to tail. He cleared up within 2 weeks and is doing great. Just be sure to get plenty air into the water.

Ich can go worse in the middle of the treatment before diminishing. You should expect that as the high temperature speeds up their lifecycle process.
