Help with id and nose issues

Hello everyone, I have a gar I picked up at lfs and I’m not sure the what kind he is some help with that would be great. Also he has a ball on the end of his snout from what I’ve seen looking at other gar it’s not normal so info on that would also be great. Thank you in advance
