i was at a LFS about 3 hours ago and saw their tank with some GSP and F8 in there. but the label said "Misc. Puffers $4.99". i tried to take a picture but probably didnt turn out to well. im going to try and post it after i type this up. well there were obviously GSP in there and some that looked like F8's, but were longer and had an odd shaped body for a F8 kind of like their stomachs were sucked in a little bit. and they were already at like between 2 or 3 inches long. i have had these same two F8 puffers for about 9 months or so now and they arent as long as these ones and they have always had plump stomachs. is there a type of puffer that is similar in markings to the F8 but gets larger? for the age of what most of the GSP they have seem to be they seem big. i may not make sense. even the F8's that they get in are usually smaller than the ones i saw today. i used to work at this fish store for 3 years and have never seen F8 puffers like that come in. and they always get their puffers in young so i know they cant be THAT old to where they are almost fully grown or already are fully grown. let me try and post this picture. i took it from my phone and am trying to send it to my email so i can save it to the computer to post in here. any insight in the mean time would be great :)

Why would you think an adult F8 wouldn't get captured from the wild & sold in a LFS?

Actually, there is: http://www.**************.com/forum/ug.php/v/PufferPedia/Brackish/T_Fluviatilis/

i dont doubt that they are wild caught. they just look alot different than the F8 im used to seeing there and any other pet store that has them. the top markings look similar but i didnt really take enough notice to see if they had the spots on the sides. i think they were just the normal breakoff of the F8 markings and the white belly. probably were just regular F8's but just starved or something since they looked like they had sunken in stomachs

I have been lucky enough to find Ceylons mixed in with F8s.

i have seen ceylons at That Fish Place a few times when i have gone up there. they look different than what i see at the pet store i was talking about. makes me want to go there and "rescue" those puffers with the sunken in stomachs because i know the current employees there dont know too much about puffers and probably sell the GSP and F8 as freshwater fish. that place has changed since i worked there a lot. there were some really knowledgeable staff there that specialized in reptiles and fish. who i learned a lot from. now its just pretty much high school/college or just out of college kids who when i asked about other fish pretty much said "i dont know". makes me want my pet store even more so i can have a good knowledgeable staff as best as i can and sell stuff only to people with correct set ups or getting the correct set ups.

not that theres something wrong with employees that young, im only 24 myself, but its different to have a knowledgeable young staff like we had when i was there(i was ages 18-20, the other two fish guys were my age and like 3 years older than i was at the time, both of whom kept saltwater, reptiles and the older of the two had a really big nice setup with a fahaka and was going to school for marine biology)
