Hey guys, stopped at a store last night and they had a tank labeled “peacock bass” and it looked to be mixed tems (with ich) and whatever this guy is, so I though I’d ask the experts. He wasn’t the only one mixed in the tank with them. First pic is the tank he was in. He’s in a qt/grow out tank getting a salt treatment now. I think he’s got potential.

Looks azul’ish to me body shape is completely different from other bass that look to be tems. The pic of him in the net you can clearly see a additional bar. Keep posting pics as he grows for a more positive ID would love to hear other thoughts on this guy.

It's getting harder and harder to distinguish Cichla these days esepcially if they're imported from Asia. There has been a rising trend of hybridizing Azuls with Temensis. And for the past couple of years (2018-2019) most of the imports I've seen labeled "Temensis' or "Azul" are actually hybrids and some look like the ones posted up top. They end up growing up looking more azul with a lot less blue and have a bit of temensis speckling. So in other words they didn't get any of the good traits from the cross. :(
