Can someone tell me what fish this is. His color is crazy and want to get another one.

Yes the tank is great!!! Got rid of the ick had to use meds but got a qt tank and now I am all set. I added 2 sulfur denitrators and it was the best thing I ever did. I dont know if it was the dry rock leeching something in to the water but I could not keep my nitrates below 40ppm and that was with me dripping in a little over 100 gallons a day of new water but because I am on a well there is 3-5 ppm of nitrates in the new water. Now with them up and running it is 5-10 ppm in the tank and the fish are breeding like crazy I can't keep up i have a 40 gallon , a 29 gallon and a 20 gallon tank all filled with fry and I have maybe 6 or 7 more pregnant fish. I try to catch them and spit them but some just won't go on the trap. Don't mind the glass i have 60 snails in qt to try and help keep it clean

It's a synspilum. There are a few different catch locations with different color variants. I'm not sure how well this central American fish, or the south American gold saum will work out in this tank long term. Both will get very large compared to the Africans.

fry - i’ve got 30 or so here, sold 50.... that’s only the two species of vics i have - going to move them to a 150g hopefully by end of year... and diversify a bit

2 sulfur denitrators - did you buy or make? any links to a product if you bought?

Here is a link to the one I got. I tried to do it myself but these work 100 time better because they recirculat the water. I regret not getting them sooner. You don't hear another about them for some reason.

what media did you use? got any pics of yours? is it in sump or sump adjacent?

You can use any 99% pure sulfur The 1st batch I bought from marine depot the 2nd one I got from a hydroponic store much cheaper it just needs to be the pearl not the powder. Also I would not have put the crushed corral in as I use the baking soda to keep the KH up as it gets depleted when the nitrates are made and the again when it is converted back to nitrogen i have to add about a cup a week to keep mine around 10DKH. I dont get why more people are not using them i love this thing best money i have ever spent on the tank. I also run the output through GFO here are some pics. I am running mine with 2 vx-1 pumps but u can do it with the return pump or just a small pump hooked up to the ORP meter

my nitrates aren’t too bad as of yet, but imagine as the fish get bigger....
