Hi guys, I`m currently putting plans together for a asian arowana community tank. The thing is, i`m after the best aro`s in the market and in the UK( where i live), we only seem to get the RTG`S which are still a great looking fish but i`m after something a bit special. The problem is i`ve never imported fish before and i`d be very grateful if someone could explain the total process from start to finish for me.
Thanks for reading
Andy
Hi andy im looking at importing some bichirs from the usa as we dont get the quality over here,i think you will need an import licence to start with or know somebody with one,my workmates dad owns his own aquatics so im hoping to use him but im unsure about what i have to pay to customs if anything as i recently bought a part for my ducati from the usa for $60 and when parcelforce delivered it i had to pay another £43 on top, obviously with the money were talking about here if it works on a percentage it will be ALOT on top.
Im not sure if you have to pay anything on livestock but il keep an eye on your thread and let you know if i find anymore info.
Hi steve, firstly thanks for replying. There`s a few decent retailers in england that specialize in oddball species so i`ll get in touch with them about helping me out as the tank build starts. Thanks for the advice mate
Hi steve, just seen richards 1000 gal thread-very impressive!.
The plan for my build is a 12ft(L)X4ft(W)X2.5ft(H) tank with a 6ft sump with 5-6 arowanas and probably a pair of leopoldi rays. Better get saving now lol . As for obtaining the arowanas,i think when the tank is in full flow i`ll start making enquiries.
