Hi all I was hoping I could get some input from the members. I have had a 50 gallon tank for a couple years with a lone Jag (he killed his gf along with anything else put in and I realize that tank is way too small) so I recently bought a 110 gallon 6ft tank.
My original plan was to get rid of the jag and start a new sa/ca community. however while away my wife set the tank up and put the jag in it as a surprise.
Although not set up as I want, it is working I am ordering new filters background etc.
My jag is about 12 inches and quite aggressive, I thought the bigger home would calm him down but if anything it made him more of an ******* for example I don't know how you tear a plastic plant apart but he has managed to do so to about 6 so far and I mean rip the leaves off them and tear them from their standsIMG_20150613_171723.jpg .

I have had a few people asking for him but they don't have suitable tanks and I won't see him in a tank like I had previously or else cannon fodder for a crowded bigger tank.

Now to my question?

Is there any way to introduce another fish to this tank that he won't kill?
A new GF or some convicts, GT etc?

It looks a little bare with just him.

his pic, sorry i'm not much with the camera.

Unfortunately, mostly anything you put into the tank will either be killed or kill him. A divider may be your only solution. 110 gallons of water just isn't enough. If you put some caves, driftwood tangles a couple of convicts or salvini might be able to hide for awhile. My advise is sell the jag or enjoy your wet pet.

Thanks Aqua, I pretty much knew the answer but hopefully thought there might be a solution or fish. I don't want a divider or mess with it so until a suitable home comes along maybe, otherwise I'll let him terrorize the wife and the tank.

I don't want to buy fish just for him to kill or vice versa so I'll let it stand.

110G for a male Jag = You will looking at him for many more years, if you want something else then sell him...Your wife set it up though so might tell her the issue with the Jag before selling him...you might sleep on the couch without talking to her first! :P

LoL Yuki just right.

The reason she set it up was because I said I wanted for him to have a better home, well now he has one but I did have other plans for that tank.

I hear you on the couch thing it took her a week and I was damned surprised when I got home.

The thing is she really kinda hates the fish (I named it after her btw and that didn't go well) it bit her and she is scared of it, well maybe hate is too strong of a word.

It is a tough situation !

I like him so if I can not find him a home I won't be too awful upset.

Not a very suitable solution but here it goes .....
Increase the hiding spaces and quick get aways and add some fast moving dithers , this way he tires out chasing them.
Slowly , this may condition him to get accustomed to fishes in his territory.
Post this you can try introducing an equally aggressive fish and try your luck .
You may have to do this for at least 2 - 3months.
BTW , you have a beauty in there !!!!!:)

Eventually he's going to need a bigger tank too.
My advice is but him a 180 now and use the 110 for what you initially planned.

Thanks Vin, I need some rocks and wood and do away with the plants, lights filters etc lol

He's pretty cool and really good looking i'll try for some better pics, I don't think i'll mess with any fish additions and just keep him unless a suitable home happens to come by .

I have a few larger Jags. My female ( who is the queen ) has her own personality . If she does not like a fish she will most definitely kill it ( 4 kills so far ) ( they were dominate fish ) . So far I have been very lucky ! I have many others in with her and so far it has been very peaceful . I do not keep plants in the tank with her or sand . I have a tiled bottom with a small portion of the tank with sand so it gives her something to do . The other fish are much faster than her if she decides to throw a little tantrum from time to time. Jag's like to do this . I would suggest not going with a predator fish . But one that doesn't seem like a "food threat " I have a coatz ( paratheraps ) and a bredordi ( not sure of the spelling ) but I let them grow out quite a bit before introducing them together. They love cat scrapers she doesn't so much so they are not a threat or a target . If you want to have other fish in that tank you will have to either have at least a 180 and introduce them ( through eggcrate ) and make sure they do not eat the same type of food. Also it helps if you stuff them with nightcrawlers a few times a week so they get really lazy ! Good luck he is a definite keeper. You may never find such a beautiful fish if you get rid of him.
