Have decided I would like to do my 100 gallon tank as a malawi oriented tank. But the only ones I have actually seen are the Zebra Cichlids.
Can someone who knows a bit about them please give me some names and perhaps numbers that I could stock in a 6 ft x 2 ft x 2ft tank? Thanks!

blah. i tried africans for a while and really disliked their lack of personality but to each their own. look in to some haplochromis, peacocks, acei, tropheus, demasoni, way too late to be thinking of anything more specific unfortunately lol

Really? lol! I was actually impressed with how active and alert the zebra's were which made me think about trying them. Wil look int those suggestions tho, thanks!

Another question? Eheim or Fluval as a filter? Want to over filtrate as I may get a larger tank one day so am looking at the Eheim Professional series or the FX5?

6x2x2 is larger than a 100 that's like 180g. But africans are awesome. I love mbunas. Victorians, haps, tropheus, petrochromis. With that tank you could get some fossochromis. They get big and are extremely colorful.

maybe i just had a bad experience but alert and active quickly turned in to hmm lemme beg for food every time i see you and do nothing else haha

Mangiano, Bumble Bees, Chipokae, Kenyi (pretty mean). Also, there are several different type of zebras.
As far as boring or not: every species has their pros and cons. I think the best part of keeping mbuna is the fact you can keep so many more than a CA/SA tank, where you only keep a few.
In my 90g setup, at the max, I had probably about 25-30 fish. One of the few species where you're encouraged to overstock to help keep aggression down.

Aricans are way cool IMO. Colorful, hardy, aggressive and active. Do as much research as you can before you get any. Also, take a look at the african section on this forum.....excellent!

I don't think you can wrong with either one. In fact, you probably want to use both since you'll probably end up with a pretty big bioload.
