So I brought this little guy home from Petco because I thought I would be able to give him a home instead of him getting flushed. All his fins are deformed and 2 weeks ago he was showing some sores and his poo was white. I treated him with Macaryn and Melafix and that cleared away but this pictures shows all that he does now, he cannot even swim to get food. I am considering putting him down instead of letting him starve to death. What do you guys/gals suggest I do?

Looks like swim bladder disease if he is upside down... can he swim around at all, or does he just sit on the bottom?

I've never had success with SBD, although keep the water *pristine*, feed him some cooked peas (by hand if he will accept it), and if he will eat, try getting some antibiotic food... another Maracyn dose too.

What do you mean by deformed fins - are they clamped to his body?

Sounds like he is probably a goner, poor little guy :(

rather than dosing maracyn dose salt and don't feed him for a few days, usually swim bladder issues in goldfish and bettas are caused by constipation that puts pressure on the swimbladder, salt helps clear them out along with high fiber foods like brine shrimp. although the white poo would point to internal parasites but you said that cleared up.

READ THIS: HE/SHE COULD HAVE A SWIM BLADDER PROBLEM OORRR A BACTERIAL INFECTION, THE FISH COULD ALSO HAVE eggs and need a male to spawn.
SIGNS OF A BACTERIAL INFECTION:
-trouble swimming
-veins in fins
-tending to float

this happened to my 2yr old koi and we brought her to a vet and gots shots for $92 but it still died :(

ALSO TRY FEEDING IT PEAS

His tail fin was like all stuck together in one strand and his other fins were not fully developed. I felt bad for doing it but I cut him down, I thought It was better than having him lingering in suffering for x days or weeks longer.

Sounds like he had a bad start anyway. If you ever run into that again (other fish) dose in some epsom salt good laxative. I dosed my tank last week

Thanks for the help guys, I figured what I did was best. Last night I brought home a 1" red cap and a 1" black/red telescope eyed goldfish.
