I am looking at buying a 600g (10'x2'x4'd) glass tank in the near future (possibly next week), but am unfamiliar with moving something this size. I plan on hiring either movers or a professional aquarium maintenance company to handle getting it moved from where its currently at and am getting some quotes now. Its going on a wood floor on a concrete slab. Anything else I might not be thinking of that I should plan for before or during the move?

Also, I've never lit anything 4' deep before. Hoping to have some plants, nothing too demanding. I don't want to go MH, was thinking of getting a few of these-

Not sure if that would be enough though.

Any suggestions?

Anything I'm missing?

Thanks in advance!

Good idea paying someone to move that. If they don't show up with quality suction cup handles, fire them and find someone else because they don't know what they're doing.

We put Simkar Reflect a Bay lighting over our fish tank, in our garage, utility room and equipment room. They seem very bright. We got ours at Grovers Plumbing, but they can be purchased online.

We got the plastic covers for them since they are only two feet from the top of the tank. Here they are with one without the cover.

Here's our 4' tall tank with the lights on. We went with the 4 T5 bulb Reflect a Bay and chose 4100 K bulbs. Our tank is 4' wide. We like the tank lighting.

What are your thoughts on LED's lighting your tank? Super low wattage, less heat, more spectrum(build your own and they can be customized).

I would be up for looking into it. T5HO just looked easier and proven effective. We have upgraded several lights and fixtures around the house about a 50% have failed within a year, so I'm hesitant to dump that much money into a fixture. I'd probably make one myself if anything.

I am in no rush to get the tank setup, so I can take my time planning this stuff out.

So far two companies have said they won't move the tank. And I did find out the original email was mistaken, it is an acrylic tank. Still way more than I can do myself!
