I have a 120 gallon that has been running for about 4 months now. I run two aquaclear 110's on it. My stock list is 5 1inch clown loaches, 6 inch rhino pleco, 2inch bristlenose pleco, and a 4 inch fahaka puffer. I can't imagine how it could possibly be overstocked.

A few weeks ago the tank got really yellowy cloudy. I assumed it was from a few pieces of drift wood I had that were maybe leaking tanins. I introduced the pleco about the time this happened and thought he maybe was chomping on the wood. So i took the wood out and spent a day boiling it. It's just three pieces of wood probablly about 6 inches in length. I wouldn't be bothered about it except it looks more cloudy than yellowy water. Did a 50% water change and added carbon to one of the 110's. Still cloudy and worse the next day. Got home last night and tested my parameters just to be sure. No ammonia, the barest hint of nitrite (have no clue where that came from), and less than 10 nitrates. Did another huge water change. The water is a lot clearer now than it was. If you look in front the water just looks like it has a yellow tinge, but if you look from the side you can only see halfway down the tank before it gets murky. What is going on here? Is it a mini cycle, the drift wood, is there something wrong with my filtration?

My water was crystal clear and then out of nowhere this happened. The drift wood has been in there since the begginning or I would definitely blame it on the wood. I'm planning on adding a power head after christmas to the bottom of the tank for the loaches to play in. Will this help?

Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Well I hand feed the fahaka. He gets thawed cocktail shrimp, clams, and once a week he gets snails. The clown loaches get shrimp pellets, algae pellets, blood worms, etc. Now when I introduced the rhino pleco I sarted leaving zucchini in the tank overnight. Could this cause it? Everyone gets fed once a day with some random skip days thrown throughout the month. I've been trying to make sure my fahaka is well fed since he's a baby and growing like a weed.

If it is because I'm overfeeding, which it might very well be. I haven't quite worked out just how much food those little loaches can eat. What should I do? Should I leave it be and see if it clears up or should I keep doing small daily water changes until it clears up?

I would do a massive gravel vac and cut back on the feeding for a while.

Okay well i did a huge vac cleaning last night so I'll cut back on their food and see how it goes. Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
