Ok here's the background: I've kept FO and reefs in the past. I am looking to get back into it with the metric ton of equipment I have lying around.

-First off, I am working with a 55g. My desire is to put a small amount of LR in (50-60lbs.).

-Wet/dry has a gph output of about 500-600gph (I valve down the pump because it is actually more than the overflow can handle)

-I have a Remora HO skimmer that's rated up to 75 gallon tank with Rio 800 200gph

-Also lying around is a custom HOB refugium that holds about 6-7 gallons. Going to throw some sand/rubble/chaeto in there. Output 200gph

-Lighting is a twin tube standard fluoro hood. I am going to used a 10k and actinic as my lighting.

-Will be using RO/DI water in the aquarium with an ATO system (also lying around)

Looking at a total of 1000gph.

Stock: Clowns, dwarf angel, basslets, etc. Nothing getting over 5".

What are your thoughts on your setup?
If I do 10% water changes once a week will this keep nitrates in check enough?
Is this enough light to maintain the small bit of LR?

I know guys seem to go the full blown FOWLR these days and would use like 100 lbs. of LR for this setup.

Hmm no I think that a lot of people go overboard with how much LR they use.

Sounds like you might be a bit cluttered...but also that you have some good stuff, and good flow.

I would ditch any sump bio media that you have...wet/dry's are nitrate factories

10% might work...only way to tell is to set everything up, get it stocked, and see what works for you.
